Why this trip?

 

This route offers an almost complete discovery of Greece.

The route begins in the Peloponnese, crosses the mountains of central Greece, skirts the Ionian Sea, passes through the Vikos Gorge and the Zagoria, the monasteries of Meteora, the Panhellenic sanctuary of Delphi before returning to Athens.

From a motorcycle point of view, the route alternates between seaside and mountain sections, always with breathtaking views and panoramas.

This tour offers the chance to discover 9 of the 18 Greek sites listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.

The itinerary includes a day's rest at the seaside.

Course of the trip

  • Arrival at Athens International Airport in the afternoon or evening. Transfer to your hotel in Rafina.

  • Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to the motorcycle garage to pick up your bike. Departure from Athens, then start of the itinerary. Lunch on the shores of the Gulf of Corinth. In the afternoon, we ride to Epidaurus along the waters of the Saronic Gulf. Around 5:00 pm, for those who wish, discovery of the best-preserved amphitheatre in the ancient world and sunset on the terraces.

    Arrival in Nafplio around 6:00 pm. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Departure around 9:30 a.m. after the day's instructions. The route follows a magnificent coastal path along the Argolic Gulf before climbing up to the Parnonas massif. Lunch along the way in a charming mountain village. Afternoon drive through a nature reserve to Monemvasia.

    Stroll around this jewel city before dinner in town. Sea bathing at the foot of the ramparts (in season). Night in the old town.

  • Departure around 9:30 a.m. for Gythio, a delightful fishing port. Lunch in the old port. The route then descends to the Magne peninsula, one of the most remote areas of the Peloponnese, at the tip of the European continent.

    The course takes in small roads atop stunning cliffs overlooking the Gulf of Laconia.

    Arrival and check-in at the hotel around 5:30pm. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

  • We leave the Magne by the coastal road along the Gulf of Messinia, one of the most picturesque in the Peloponnese.

    In the afternoon, drive to Mystras through the Taygetos massif.

    Arrival and check-in at the hotel around 4:00 pm.

    For those who wish, visit the ancient medieval city founded by the Franks in the 13th century, and conquered by the Byzantines and then the Ottomans. Return to hotel by 6:00 pm. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

    Mystras

  • Departure for Karytaina, a village in the heart of the Peloponnese. In the afternoon, the road winds through the mountains of Arcadia to the mysterious temple of Apollo Epicurus at Bassae.

    Then we cross some magnificent mountain ranges, before descending gently towards Olympia. Arrival at today's stopover around 5.00 pm. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

  • For those who wish, before breakfast, visit the site of Olympia.

    Departure around 11:00 am for Thermos, a village on the shores of Lake Trichonida, the largest natural lake in Greece.

    The route follows pretty roads through rolling countryside, before the spectacular crossing of the Gulf of Corinth on the world's third largest cable-stayed bridge.

    Arrival in Thermos around 5:00 pm.

  • After breakfast, we head back up into the mountains, passing lake after lake, before reaching the shores of the Ionian Sea.

    The road skirts the waves to Parga, an ancient fishing village surrounded by lush cliffs plunging into an emerald sea.

    At sunset, the sun's rays light up the little port and its shimmering houses with their warm, colorful paintings.

  • A day of rest for those wishing to enjoy the hotel and take a break.

    For those who want to ride a motorcycle loop to the source of the Acheron, the mythical river on which Charon, guardian of the underworld, transported departed souls to the realm of the dead.

    Return around 4:30 pm to enjoy the day's stage. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

  • Breakfast at the hotel, before setting off for the Zagori, an astonishing mountain region close to the border with Albania.

    We've reached the most intense part of the trip. Located in Epirus, the Zagori are nestled in the heart of the immense Pindus mountain range, where nature is grandiose.

    From the Vikos Gorge, the deepest gorge on Earth after the Grand Canyon in the USA, to the peaks of the Astraka Mountains, we drive "beyond the mountains".

  • The day begins like yesterday, we're still in the Zagori. We cross the Pindus massif, the most remote in Greece, and drive towards Metsovo and then Kalambaka, which we reach mid-afternoon.

    Check-in at the hotel at the foot of Meteora. For those who wish, late afternoon visit to one of these astonishing monasteries perched on strange rocky peaks.

  • We leave the plain of Thessaly for another day in the mountains, on sometimes very winding roads where hardly anyone ever passes. We're in the Agrafa massif, where nature reigns supreme.

    We skirt Lake Plastira and continue up the mountain to Karpenisi.

  • After 3 days without seeing the sea, today's route takes us gently back to the Gulf of Corinth.

    The route winds its way through the mountains, bypassing some of Europe's largest reservoirs.

    Arrival in Galaxidi around 5:00 pm. Dinner on the port and overnight at the hotel.

  • We set off at around 9:00 a.m. for Arachova, a delightful mountain village at the gateway to the Parnassus massif.

    On the way, stop off at Delphi to visit the sanctuary of Apollo, the most important in ancient Greece.

    We then continue on to the Byzantine monastery of Osios Loukas, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    The rest of the route takes in alternating mountain-side and seaside roads, before continuing on to Athens and the garage to return the bikes.

    Transfer to Monastiraki, in the center of Athens, and check-in at the hotel.

    In the evening, dinner in Plaka, at the foot of the Acropolis. Overnight at the hotel.

  • Free day in Athens, dedicated to strolling around the city, shopping and visiting museums.

    We recommend visiting the Acropolis and Parthenon Museum, the Museum of Greek Antiquities or the Byzantine Museum.

    Check-out and transfer to the airport for your return flight.
